Ministry – Benevolence/Local Outreach

Hartsville Pike is well-known for supporting the local community, including tornado and severe storm relief and cleanup, backpack meals for schools, inviting the local neighborhood for meals, and providing a local counseling office for AGAPE. Other local outreach and benevolence activities include:

Pantry

Hartsville Pike has, for many years, offered pantry items to the local community on a continuous basis.  Currently, boxes are available during scheduled times on Tuesdays and Thursdays,  and upon request.

Medical Equipment Ministry

In April of 2025, Hartsville Pike began offering free medical equipment and supplies to the local community.  This includes wheelchairs, transport chairs, crutches, walkers, toilet chairs, shower chairs, bath benches, canes, scooters, rollators, and a wide variety of hygiene needs.

As we receive overflow or equipment we cannot process, we donate to the organization, Project Cures, for distribution to third-world countries.  We are blessed with continuous donations of equipment and supplies to replenish our inventory.  It seems we only have to think or mention what we are lacking, and in a day or two, we have what we need.

Highpoint Health-Sumner – New Baby Bags

This local outreach originated with the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ Young at Heart group in approximately 2014.

Bags for boys and girls contain onsies, a gown, blanket, diapers, wipes, and baby shampoo are to be distributed through labor and delivery at Highpoint Health – Sumner to aid new mothers in need.  Messages included in the bags are printed in both English and Spanish.

Assisted Living and Nursing Homes

Several brethren each week, including some of our young people, conduct a singing and devotional service after Hartsville Pike’s morning worship service at some of these facilities.  They are always welcomed by the residents.

Surrounding Neighborhood

The publication House to House / Heart to Heart is sent to our neighbors near the physical church building.
