In God’s design for His Church, He authorized deacons to be servants. The characteristics or qualifications of a deacon are listed in 1 Timothy 3:8-13, and include: “ reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money… with a pure conscience, tested, blameless….”
Deacons hold a special position in the church with special qualifications and with special responsibilities, serving the congregation. Hartsville Pike is blessed with men who are willing to share their expertise and talents with the members.
Since the role of deacons in the church is that of a servant, they would naturally be charged with doing things to relieve the temporal affairs and burdens from the elders. Their duties are assigned by the elders and generally include taking care of physical needs of the church facilities, services, etc. the
